The settlement of Clay Meadows in Bolton township was abandoned in the early 1900s. In the 1940s the New York State Civilian Conservation Corps reforested the area by planting hundreds of seedling pine trees. The now 80-foot pine trees tower over and hide the old settlement and cemetery. \nThe cemetery can be reached by climbing the hill starting at the end of the guardrail over Northwest Bay Creek on Lake Shore Drive about five miles north of Bolton Landing. -cba
